A Chore we recommend..

I started watching a new show this week, Hijack, staring Idris Elba. I know what you’re thinking, say less. The show follows Elba as a he boards a plane that is, you guessed it, hijacked. It actually is pretty good, so check it out on Apple TV.

In the opening episode, Elba wears a piece that I had to take a moment to highlight. The Chore Coat
A Brief History

Many of our iconic style pieces have roots in workwear. The Chore Coat is no exception, utilized by workers on both sides of the Atlantic, this piece is known for its short collar and large pockets.

Originating in France in the nineteenth century, the Chore Coat found its popularity amongst rail workers, farmer, and dock workers, the oversized fit made it a comfortable layer on top of overalls and large pockets had practical usage throughout the work day.

Often used made up in twill or canvas, the look has evolved, reaching a plateau with the iconic Carhartt look. But as we move into contemporary styling, we can see it used in daily use in much lighter weight fabrics.

Somedays I just want to wear a layer, but not a suit coat or a sport coat, and certainly not a sweater. The way Idris Elba wears his Chore Coat is a perfect example of casual layering. Ideal for travel, or those events you’d like to dress for but don’t want to over dress. This is a piece guaranteed to get you compliments.

With your lifestyle wear, we try and keep it simple. Choose your fabric and pocket styles. The beauty of this item, you can have multiple in your wardrobe and each will serve a different purpose.

What do you think of this look? Worth adding into your wardrobe?
